Guerlain offers a solution for their digital commerce to personalize their iconic Bee Bottle.
After the success of the Guerlain Rouge G project, it was evident to continue this momentum for the Guerlain - The Bee Bottle project, which offers advanced personalization for its perfume bottle, iconic since 1853.
Customers can personalize Guerlain's iconic Bee Bottle, selecting custom colors and adding engravings. Furthermore, they have the choice of filling their bespoke bottle with any perfume from the Maison Guerlain collection. Hapticmedia had the significant opportunity to collaborate with the brand to create a product configurator for their engraved perfume bottle.

What do we do for Guerlain?
The main challenge was to create a precise, real-time 3D visualization of the customized Bee Bottle that accurately reflected the intricate details, including glass color, perfume color, and other potential decorative elements, in order to provide a high-quality, realistic customer experience.
The simulation had to ensure that iconic details, such as the bees engraved on the glass, remained clearly visible, accounting for the optical distortion and light absorption occurring as light passed through both the glass and liquid layers. Glass modeling, particularly crystal, was developed for Baccarat and its famous chandeliers.
In addition to all these elements, it was essential to be able to offer engraving on the glass bottle, while including a high-quality rendering.

- Simulate transparency and refractive effects, especially the subtle appearance of transparent glass containing transparent liquid
- Ensure clear visibility of fine details, such as engraved bees, through the simulated glass and liquid layers

High-fidelity 3D rendering

The project required precisely simulating the bottle's perceived color resulting from light interaction with glass and liquid, while accurately rendering complex transparency and refraction (particularly for clear glass/liquid). Managing layered materials like glass, liquid, and gold realistically was essential for the customized perfume bottle.
Engraved Perfume Bottle

The Maison offers a highly advanced customization service; a significant feature of this project is the availability of engraving.
This service exemplifies Guerlain's commitment to providing a luxurious and bespoke customer experience, where each individual's preferences are acknowledged and catered to. Customization is also found for Longchamp and their famous Le Pliage bag.
